Duck Eaters Dead!

Or at least one of them is. When we moved out here, the Stouffers had the wonderful idea of putting some ducks in the pond. So they got six little ducks and it wasn't until we were about to put them in the water that we realized we had a few unwelcome snapping turtles living in the ducks future home. One of the turtles even had duck legs for breakfast one morning. So we decided that the turtles just had to go. Numerous shotgun shells have been fired at the creatures, but somehow they seemed quite able to survive them. Since that didn't work, I decided to go fishing for them. No one really seemed to believe that the turtles could be caught in that way, but the guns hadn't worked, so why not? Yesterday, I got a pole ready and walked out to the pond. I was only out there a few minutes when I decided to pull in my line to make sure the bait was still on. I started feeling a little resistance and when I kept pulling, I saw a turtle on the end of my line! With my heart beating quite fast, I grabbed the net, pulled him up on land, and dragged him back to the house. I fetched Caleb as quickly as I could who in turn went and fetched his gun. He took him out to the field and shot him in the head about five or six times. Think that was enough? :) So now one turtle is dead and we have at least one more to get before the ducks will be safe. If anyone wants to come catch an ugly snapping turtle...
