I'll go ahead and say it. I don't like coffee. I never have, but maybe one day I will. Now, I have always loved the smell of coffee, and I don't mind fixing it for other people, but anything that even has a hint of coffee flavoring in it, I don't like. Yeah, I know. I've been told that I'm crazy before; that's nothing new. But my tastes and opinions about coffee may end up changing in the very near future. I'll tell you why.
Beginning October 1st (hopefully), King's Ground Coffee Shop will open up to the public on the square in downtown Centerville. It is completely family owned and operated, and will be run by the town's only Presbyterian pastor and his family. While espressos and lattes are certainly a must, King's Ground will also serve other goodies such as cookies or cinnamon rolls, and tea and hot chocolate for those whose tastes have not been cultivated for coffee. Sometime in the future, King's Ground plans to roast it's own coffee beans as well, once the little shop has been established.
So maybe by working in a coffee shop, my tastes will eventually change to not only liking coffee, but loving it. Maybe. Right now, I'm working on making a Joker hat. . . ;)
I am going to venture to make a very pessimistic prophecy which I hope will not be true. ;)
ReplyDeleteBy the time you've worked in the coffee shop for much time the very word "coffee" will be utterly offensive to you!
j/k :)
Hmm sounds like Providence families maybe even more drawn to make a Centerville stop when traveling down south. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the name King's Ground! I also like the jester guy.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure we'll be frequent customers, as long as you serve mocha lattes and chocolate-covered coffee beans. ;)
Actually, Laura's probably not kidding. Eggs and bacon I now find generally offensive!
ReplyDeleteOn an aside; Daniel's John Deere hat is available if nothing else will suffice. ;)
BTW, your link to the Hectors' blog doesn't work. I think you're missing the "www."
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to getting Mocha from Lovettbucks...er King's Ground.
ReplyDelete*holds up his hand in bring-me-a-grande-mocha-latte fashion"

btw, i think the http://http// has more to do with the brokenness of the Hector's linky.
Whitney,
ReplyDeleteI sure do hope that y'all will stop by as often as you can!
The rest of you,
I did think about the possibility of coffee becoming detestable after awhile, but I'm trying to stay on the optimistic side here. I really do think that I'm going to like it eventually. I may be sick of it after I like it, but we'll see.
Since when did the JD hat become available? I was told just the other day to never touch it again! Does Daniel know about your offer? :)
Thank y'all for letting me know about the link; I would have never seen it. I hate it when they go ahead and put the "http://" in there; it messes up my "Copy" and "Paste"!
Just had to say that if we lived up there, you could be assured of a family bookstore next door to your coffeshop. ;)
ReplyDeleteTTYL

Wow! This is awesome! The community is really coming along what with a restaurant AND a coffee shop owned by heritage folks.
ReplyDeleteKaliste - There is still hope...I did not like coffee until about two years ago.
