Fish out of water...

I feel as though I am in a different world. A very strange and unfamiliar world. A world that is full of money and politics and things that, in the light of eternity, really don't matter at all.

I used to think that maybe I wasn't a country girl; there was still a lot of city left in me when we moved, and there still is. But I'm telling you now: I wouldn't trade all of those pothole filled dirt roads and small town inconveniences for all of Washington! But I can still dress like a city girl, can't I?

Yesterday, the song Friends with Tractors kept running through my mind. We had all been singing it after Giddo bought his tractor anyway, but it was really hitting home at dinner last night. In the song, Rodney Atkins complains of going to a five-star restaurant, being charged for the butter and bread, and then having to leave barely fed. Well, we were at a Mexican restaurant where they wanted to charge us for the chips and salsa, but I think all of us would have rather been hanging out with good ole country folk frying okra instead!

This wasn't meant at all to be a complaint, and I'm afraid that's how it's coming out. We are all having a great time; it just seems weird. Different. But not all bad. Last night when the housekeepers came up to deliver sheets for the pull-out couch, they also insisted on making the bed themselves. And some of you know how much I dislike making up beds. :)

I suppose it's off to breakfast soon. At least, I'm hoping it is. I guess these city folk don't think that ten o'clock is almost lunchtime.

And after breakfast, I believe it's off to the Lincoln Memorial. ;)

Tell me...What's the difference between dressing like a city girl and dressing like a "country girl"?

You wear pearl-snaps, boots, and occasionally a cowboy hat!

I have no idea why that comment posted itself twice. :/

  4. I guess that's sorta country. I only wear them when they're stylish though. But what about the earrings, the toenail polish, the makeup, the flip flops...all that stuff? And I don't even wear my boots out to work in!

Hey, our taxi driver thought we were from Texas the other day. Caleb guessed that it was because of the boots he and I were wearing. ;)

  5. *sniff.* It's really lonely here without y'all....no 4-wheelers driving by or anything.

As I write this 3 of your siblings are in our living room about to watch "Cinderella 2". You're really missing out.

Have loads of fun and take lots of pictures!!

    Love,
    Camille

  6. You mean Daniel isn't having a blast? Two four-wheelers with no one to drive them? :)

    We miss y'all, too.
