What in the world where they thinking?

Our passage for family worship tonight:

5 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up on the land of Egypt.’” 6 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. 7 And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt.

So honestly, what were Pharaoh's magicians trying to accomplish? I mean all they did was double their own plague.

"Hey look, Aaron! We can do that, too!" And more frogs jump out all over the place. As if there weren't enough already.

"Uh, guys, maybe this wasn't such a good idea. . ."

"So now what?"

  2. Yes, I have; it was one of my favorite lectures in the Antiquity series. Very good.

This particular passage got us all laughing in family worship tonight, and I couldn't resist sharing it and the comments that were made. Maybe my sarcasm didn't come through enough. :)
