I think every boy is born with some sort of destructive instinct, whether it be to destroy with his bare hands or ordinary tools, or to make some sort of weapon that destroys. The boys in my family are no exception. Of course, it's not always a malicious aspiration to demolish something. I think just the building of a machine that can smash and shatter or simply throw a wad of paper across the room has always been fascinating.
Mini Weapons....Spitball Warfare....sounds harmless enough. My younger brother and his pal have had a blast putting these miniature catapults and slingshots together, and to tell you the truth, I was a little impressed with them. Even if the contraptions didn't shoot anything more than a couple of inches.
Or I thought they didn't shoot anything more than a couple of inches. I got a call on Monday from Dad asking me to drop by Lowes and sign an order form for a piece of glass. What for? To replace the glass in the back door that shattered into a million pieces from the launching of a certain ballistic.
This is the device that Jonathan built. Works kind of like a crossbow/slingshot. What Abi launched out of it is the little piece of a ballpoint pen to the left of the it.
Yes, it completely shattered the entire glass door from about ten feet away.
But no, I haven't the faintest idea of how that was even possible.

Yep - I'm impressed. :D
