I thought I would post yesterday afternoon about my day and our upcoming trip. *blink blink* Yeah right. Let's all take a moment here to laugh, shall we? I should have known better. It was Monday. Not only that, but we were planning on leaving town the next morning at 4:30am, and *nothing* had been packed. And you know us, not just packing was going on. We were cleaning and running last minute errands and having people over for lunch...all the things you normally do when you have to leave town in 12hrs, right? And it seemed like everything I was doing was somehow being undone...like the dog eating the freshly made bread and just cooked bacon for our BLT lunches. That and my brain was totally not functioning. I was forgetting things right and left.
But we made it (barely!), and we left our beloved TN for Dayton, IA! One of the churches in our presbytery is hosting our annual CPC meeting there, and we're making a vacation out of it! We are so looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones! Hopefully I'll be able to get some pictures up later this week; I'm just unsure of the Internet connections of where we'll be staying. But I'll try. :)
We left the house this morning at about 5:15am, after "going to bed" at 1:30am. Needless to say, we're a little tired. But the drive so far had been pleasant and uneventful, which is good. We're passing through Missouri now, and everything around us is rather flat. Ok, really flat. And I know the point Jason Aldean was making in his latest song, but honestly, I'm still thinking "who'd wanna live here??" After living in the hills of TN, I have decided that I like hills. And trees. And though I'm excited to visit and be driving out west, I think I'd still rather just pass through or fly over most of these states. Jason Aldean can have them all to himself. :)
Aw... C'mon Kaliste....
ReplyDeleteAfter all... the fields aren't ALL square... ;-)
Iowa isn't exactly "out west"...
ReplyDeleteYeah, well. It's west for someone who's never been out west. And we *are* driving in the westward direction. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd...y'all do have awesome dirt where you are. Flat isn't all bad, I guess. ;)
