Of sprinkles and faith

Some things just seem to bring out the kid in me...like sprinkles and airplanes and hide-and-seek. Or Disney tunes that I can dance to and sing along with while doing dishes in the kitchen. I laugh and play, and, for a few moments, everything in the world is okay. No worries, no problems.

Occasionally I find myself longing for those carefree, childhood days. Pine cone wars and roller blading, picking blackberries and naming trails in the woods, filming movies under the house and riding four-wheelers every afternoon in the dust. I am telling you, I had a great childhood! But now that I'm older, I'm finding that I am burdened more and more with the cares of this world. Which is a pretty normal thing that comes with growing up. More responsibility and more work more often than not equals more headache.

But oh! To truly be a child of faith! To trust God like a kid again. To hold on to His promises like a little girl holds her daddy's hand. To believe Him when He says that everything will work out for His own glory.

Sometimes the child in us needs to come out. Sometimes we need to forget what we're worried about and stressed over and realize that there is nothing we can do but trust and obey our wonderful, loving, and all good Savior! He has a plan, He knows what He's doing, and He loves His children.

So laugh. Make some time to play. And put extra sprinkles on your ice cream. Live and enjoy this excellent life that God has given us. Trust Him fully and completely. Like a child."For of such is the Kingdom of Heaven."
