Summer is officially here...

...which means that the weather is hot and life is crazy! But that's not all bad, I suppose. Summer evenings in TN are usually pretty comfortable, and right now, I'm swinging on the porch enjoying the slight breeze and soaking up the beautiful countryside around me. God is good!

I feel like my life has been pretty hectic lately, and that's probably because it has. But it's been good. I'll try to hit some of the highlights, though I'm sure I'll leave a bunch out.

Since Presbytery we've had a friend from California staying with us. In fact, we dropped him off at the airport yesterday to go home, so he's been with us for about six weeks. But more on that later.

In May, we had our annual piano/voice recital. And I managed to get sick just a couple of days beforehand. My throat was so sore that night! I think I choked my way through the song I was supposed to be singing, and I could hardly talk afterwards. But despite all that, it was a ton of fun, and everyone did a wonderful job. And this year, I wasn't just a student; I was a teacher, too! I started teaching last fall, and let me tell you, I have had so. much. fun! I have some of the best students, though, and I am so proud of them!

We got a visit from some of our favorite VA people! The Windhams spent a few days with us in which we rode four-wheelers and ate yummy food and watched movies and ate more yummy food and laughed and played games and rode four-wheelers some more and went swimming and ate some more yummy food...yeah, it was a good couple of days. Relaxing and fun.

Joshua had his first swimming lessons for a couple of weeks! He's the cutest little swimmer you ever did see, and, after some bribing, he did quite well. But don't call him a fish; he'll correct you and say he's a "swim monkey". Little nut.

Thanks to the awesome peoples over at BCF, I got to taste my first Sungold cherry tomato of the season today! Yes, that's a highlight of the summer. I love those little things! And I don't even like tomatoes! Well, actually I like them better than I used to. A lot better. The carrots are also very good. I think I ate at least three on my 2.5 mile drive back home.

The grandparents and cousins and my aunt and uncle are all in town this week! Hooray! We haven't seen my cousins since Christmas, and we're already having a blast! Looking forward to the rest of the week and the weekend! Lots of swimming and laughing and game playing, I'm sure.

On my way home from running errands in town today, I stopped in one of the little shops on the square. After I walked in, the owner came by and locked the doors, not knowing I was inside. I knocked as she walked away, but apparently she didn't hear me as she kept on walking down the sidewalk. This was a first, and I had no idea what to do. Thankfully, I had seen a friend's truck across the square, so I called him and asked if he could please chase down the store owner and have her unlock the doors. He never found her, but he did discover a way for me to get out, and we had a good laugh. In fact, I'm still laughing.

Like I said, summer's crazy. But it's fun. And it's not anywhere near over yet. We still have some of our best friends from Atlanta coming up for a visit, a big party to plan for the Fourth of July, more swimming lessons, more friends (this time from FL), and a trip to California in August! Whew! Oh, and I need to change the header picture on my blog...waaay overdue.

So yeah. I'd say we're staying pretty busy. But we're having a blast. At least mostly. :)
