I thought I'd take time to write a whole post in answering Mr. or Ms. Anon's question, "You'd want to live on a farm?". (for details about the question, see the May 20, 2006 post and comments)
The short answer is yes, I would love to live on a farm. The longer, more detailed answer is, well...
A farm...to most people this word may not sound very attractive; to me, it's wonderful. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, life on a farm makes you stop to think about God's awesome creation; the sound of a creek making its way through the woods, the joy of running through a field, the wonder of new life, the satisfaction of growing fruits and vegetables and seeing them on your table, oh I can't name all the glorious things the country lifestyle can provide. Every time we drive through rural places my eyes just soak in the beautiful wide open fields dotted with trees, cows, or horses. The longing in my heart grows greater and greater whenever I have the privilege of venturing out into those wide open places. So many stars are visible when you're away from city lights. Ah...stars. I could spend hours staring up at them just thinking about how big they are, but also how far away they are, for they are just tiny specks to us; and to think that our God is so much bigger than all of them. But back to earth. Yes, would love to live on a farm and enjoy the rural sounds and sights. It is one of my greatest dreams. I think the only greater dream that I would have would be to live on a farm with horses! Just imagine cantering a horse across wide open pasture...but that's a different post.
Although I would love all this, I am very content with where God has placed me. I can still see lots of stars at night, I can still hear the happy voices of children playing, and I can still dream about the country life. The LORD has been very gracious to us and has provided for all our needs and has given us so much more then we deserve, and I will be content with whatever His will is for me and my family.
Who asked that question anyways?
Yea! Kaliste has finally agreed to come and stay with us again!
ReplyDeleteUm...that is what you meant by that post right?
Laura Bradshaw
p.s. We have a horse, you know, but I personally don't want to break my neck. You ,however, are very welcome to canter through our pastures (at your own risk)!
Claire and I will e-mail soon.
Thanks girls! I would love to come stay with y'all again, but you have to talk to the boss! Hey, did y'all receive the excuse to come down and stay with us yet?
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, I didn't ask that.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to live on a farm too-It's why I don't want to go to the Bradshaws. It makes me very jealous and I never want to leave. But, here is OK too. I just can never tell if its stars or airplane lights.
