A simple reminder of an amazing promise

Unfortunately this picture doesn't even begin to do this beautiful site justice. Not only was this a double rainbow (look closely), the colors were so bright and beautiful! And it seemed so big and close to us....

I don't know about you, but a rainbow excites me every time I see one. So beautiful. So simple, yet so powerful. Thousands of years ago a promise was made; a promise that is every bit true today as it was back then. And every rainbow that appears in the sky God Himself looks upon, and He remembers His covenant with His people.

Modern scientists will tell us that, no, there's nothing special about a rainbow; it's just the way the sun hits the water droplets in the sky after a rain. But those who see the vibrant colors after a gray day with eyes of Christian faith...oh, it's so much more!

Never be too busy to remember God's promises to his people. The next time you see a rainbow, take a minute to contemplate all that it means. Not just that the earth will never be flooded again, but that our Lord loves us and continues to care for us and provide for us. And He always will.

And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud;  and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth." Genesis 9:12-17
