Life

Ahh...sitting here with a warm cup of hot chocolate, enjoying the peace and quiet and the few moments I have to write a couple of lines on this here blog.

Life continues on in all of its busyness, but it's been good. We have enjoyed, and put to good use, the warmer weather and thought that summer had hit us a couple of weeks ago. This week has been a little cooler, but still sunny, and it's just lovely. We've played some good volleyball games, and I'm really looking forward to the longer, warmer days of summer where we can spend more time outside!

So what have we been up to lately? The "normalness" of life mostly. The grandparents have been spending more and more time up here which has been tons of fun! We've had several great cookouts up at their place.

We had a milestone birthday recently, and along with that was a big, fancy party to celebrate! Abi turned 13!! Can you believe it? I can't. Hopefully I'll get another post up for just that; I've got a few more pictures. In the one above, Luke was showing us that the 12" balloons could really be 18" balloons.

These are my crazy siblings swimming in the pool. In March. We don't do that in Tennessee! I was sitting on the porch in my sweater watching them, telling them that no one was allowed to start drowning because I was not jumping into that freezing water to save them! They assured me that they were just fine. And from the picture, it looks like they were.

My first attempt and apple fritters. And I'll just say it was a good try. However, it was not what I had in mind. Would you believe it? There are no recipes on this incredible internet for apple fritters like you buy in a doughnut shop. Or at least there aren't on the first page of google. I found a bunch that were almost what I was looking for, just never quite right. Buuuut....the guy from the amazing little doughnut shop in town told me that he would show me how to make doughnuts sometime, and I'm thinking I need to take him up on his offer! Those. things. are. good.

My little errand buddy! He turned 3 yesterday; can you believe that one? He's always ready to go for a ride with me (might have something to do with the M&M's in the glove box...), and I am always more than happy to take him! He doesn't talk much though; which is strange. He's a Lovett.

So Caleb decided that having a desk job every day requires some planned outdoor activities. And he picked tennis as one of them. He bought both him and me new rackets (isn't he awesome?), and we were able to get out and play for a little this evening. Oh what fun! I used to play on a team years ago, and Caleb would practice with me, but neither of us have been on a court in forever. It took a little warming up, but after not too much time we were able to keep the ball in our court. More or less anyway.

We actually went with the whole family to the park and had a picnic dinner. The younger ones played on the playground while the older ones played tennis. However, we forgot to check the outdoor temperature when we planned all this, and some of us froze. Note to self: when planning outside events, always, always check the weather! Oh well. We had fun.

And now that I am thawed out, I'm sore. Well, one arm is anyway. Which is kind of annoying; I feel slightly lopsided. But hopefully I'll sleep well tonight.

Speaking of which...it's rather late. And like it or not, I have to get up in the morning.
