We have finally made it to California! After years of trying to get out here, this time we actually did it. We made it through airport security and two flights with all nine of us just fine, and after a long day of travel, we went to our hotel and crashed.
Yesterday, we met up with the Schroeders and traveled the countryside! And it was beautiful! Lots of vineyards and gardens, quint towns and villages; it was a good introduction to CA. Not to mention it was so great to see our good friends again. It's been way too long!
The pictures below are in no particular order; just snapshots of us throughout the day.
Chocolate tasting?? Yes, please!!
This little guy was getting tired of people wanting to take his picture! Little celebrity tired of the paparazzi. :)
The palm trees here are really funny to me. They just seem to be randomly placed throughout the state, usually only one by itself in the midst of a bunch of other trees. This one was in a city park, and I think it's one of the tallest I have seen.
Look at all the grapes! Yum!
AN OLIVE TREE!! How cool is that?
Not a bad looking bunch, is it? We ended our day by walking through the Culinary Institute and then having a picnic dinner with bread bought from a local bakery alongside of fruit and cheese. What a great evening!
Thank you, Schroeders, for such a wonderful day!
