After a rather long ride in the car on Thursday, we finally made our way to hot and humid Florida. We have long been anticipating this vacation with our grandparents and Mom's younger brother and his family; we always have so much fun!
We left at five-thirty in the morning, which may have surprised some, two days ago to begin our long trek down here. That was thirty minutes after we planned on leaving, but hey, it was thirty minutes before I thought we would leave. We had an uneventful trip, which I guess is good, but makes for an awfully boring post. :) When we arrived, we all did the fun unloading of the vehicles, then of course we were on our way to the grocery store to just about buy it out. Pizza was the easiest thing for dinner, so that's what we had. Then off to bed. The next morning we began our daily beach routine. Get up, eat breakfast (none of this was too early by the way; we're on vacation), get all lathered up in sunscreen, then head out for some fun in the sand and waves. I was particularly "boring" on that day; I read a book nearly all day long. ;) I enjoyed myself. I did get out in the water a little bit, but not quite as much as everyone else. So today, since I finished the book last night, I was a little more active. Caleb and I went snorkeling, but didn't see anything of much interest, to me anyway. We did see a couple of sharks out there a little later though. That was exciting! No they weren't huge man-eaters, only about four feet in length at the most, but it was still neat. And the dolphins were out as well.
Despite the fact that we are in Florida (hot, humid, flat, Yankees, etc.), it still is beautiful here. The clear, blue water, the gorgeous sunsets, all the little seashells and crabs, even the sharks. . .I love it! 'Tis quite relaxing really; sitting out here on the porch, listening to the waves crash upon the shores, my hair fluttering about in the breeze. . .all right, I'll stop there; I think I've had my nose in a novel a little too much lately. ;)
For pictures, you can go here. I'm sure I'll be posting more of them later though.
So what were you reading? Sounds like y'all have been having a great time!
