Too busy to post. . .

I can't believe that it has almost been a month since I last blogged! Our summer is quickly filling up and it's getting harder for me to find the time to post. Next week, we are all driving up to Illinois for Presbytery meetings and fellowship with other families from all over the US. The week after that holds our church recital, for which I am frantically trying to memorize a piece of music. Then we are scheduled to go to Florida with extended family for a beach vacation. Ahhh. . . That's going to be so much fun. . . And then there's the garden. Our teeny, tiny, just-going-to-get-our-feet-wet (or muddy) garden that happens to be 2800 square feet. Yeah, not so little after all. It doesn't seem as big now as when we first tilled it up, but it's not small. I do believe that our tomato plants have finally decided to grow though. We planted them, what, two months ago? They shot up in a couple of days and looked so pretty, but then they stopped growing. And they're still only 3-4 inches tall. Then in the last day or so new green leaves started sprouting. So if anyone knows anything about this strange occurrence, please tell us!

Well, our rooster died either yesterday or today. Caleb had noticed that he was acting rather strange, having trouble walking or something like that, and then he died. Caleb didn't seem too worried or upset about it. The rest of our hens are getting to the eggs before we are. I guess they found out that they don't taste too bad. Caleb is trying to break that nasty habit of theirs or we're never going to have any eggs.

I wanted to post about a wonderful Lebanese meal that we had with some of our dear friends, but lovely blogger wouldn't let me post my pictures. Or maybe it was just our slow internet. Could even have been a combination of the two, I guess. I'll go ahead and share a little bit of it with you anyways. A couple of weekends ago, we had a few families over to enjoy a Lebanese Feast. One of Mom's conditions in doing that though was that she received help in preparing the food. So early in the afternoon, this wonderful family came over to share in the cooking fun. And it truly was a lot of fun! We made grape leaves, kibee, tabouleh, hummus, and of course the famous Arabic bread. Our friends also added spiced grapes and baklawa to our dinner. Everything was so good! I wish I had taken more pictures, but I was caught up in rolling grape leaves and kneading bread.

I have been contemplating the switch to Wordpress, as many others have done, but I just can't quite bring myself to do it. Is it really that much better than Blogger? I haven't experienced any problems with Blogger other than loading pictures, but then again, our internet isn't exactly the fastest thing in the world. Some of you have first-hand knowledge of that. Any opinions in that area though?

  1. I personally don't like WordPress as much as... o say Expression Engine... but I probably like it a little better than blogger.

Not sure I would switch though if I was already on blogger.

  3. We are having a problem with our tomatoes also. Hhhmm. About the pictures though, have you tried downsizing them before trying to load them? I have to do this or else it will take ages to load. You will have to tell us Georgia folk about Spring in Tennessee. I bet its beautiful. God Bless!

  4. Kaliste, I enjoyed meeting you in Peoria last week (or I guess it was more than a week ago now, eh?). I wish we could have had more time to get better acquainted, but hopefully as our church is now part of the CPC also, we'll see you again sometime sooner rather than later... Your family is always welcome up here in good ol' northern Illinois!
