Presbytery 2008

Well, I did have good intentions. In fact, they were great. Since we were going to be one of the first families home from the Presbytery meeting, I was going to be the first one to post about it. Ha! Yeah right. So what happened? Who knows.

Anyhow, last weekend we all traveled up to Illinois for our annual Presbytery meeting. "We" weren't really a part of it, just Dad and Caleb; the rest of us went along for the fellowship and all the fun that goes with it. ;) We arrived at our friends' house on Wednesday evening just in time for dinner. We actually timed that perfectly. ;) We unloaded our luggage and then had a wonderful meal with our host family, another family from Connecticut, as well as the family that they were staying with, and of course, Jared. Can't forget him. We ate and talked, even played a game, till about midnight or so and then sleepily tumbled into our beds. The next day the men headed off to meetings, and Jessica and I, along with our moms, cooked almost all day long, which was a lot of fun. That evening we all went to a minor league baseball game, where we met up with a bunch of other people who were in Illinois for the same reason as us. Friday, the men were back in wonderful meetings while those who were not rode over to Wildlife Prairie Park and explored the woods there and the creatures in them. It was quite an enjoyable time; the weather was perfect. The 53ft slide was pretty cool. Mom and I agreed that we needed one going down the side of our ridge. . . The fifteen-passenger-van line-up was really neat, too. And that’s not even all of them in the picture! Much better than the bright yellow-orange buses that just had to be there the same day we were. That night was the ordination service for the new elders in our denomination, and then dinner and a dance! Funny story that goes with that. I don't think I could explain the details very well, so I'll just say that we were supposed to be following a certain car to the place we were having dinner, but they sped off without us, then ended up calling us, who had no idea where we were going, for directions! But we all eventually arrived where we were supposed to, and later had many laughs about our crazy ride! Saturday only held a few meetings for Daddy and Caleb in the morning, then we were off in the van headed home. The trip was uneventful, and we didn't get home too late, though we were all still very tired the next day.

We had a marvelous time seeing folks we hadn't seen in years and being able to meet new friends. And we all hope to be together again next year. . .in Centerville!
