...I failed to mention in my last post that for school Caleb and I are memorizing part of John Milton's
Paradise Lost. Anyone who wants to join in and memorize it with us is more than welcome! And don't worry; it's just the first paragraph of Book 3.
Fun fun fun...
ReplyDeleteUmm...How long is the "first paragraph"?
ReplyDeleteSeems like memorizing that could be a bit superfluous, if thats the word, for me anyway, seeing the nature of the passage. I prefer memorizing things I can understand. It'd take me days to figure out what it meant!
ReplyDeleteI once had to memorize Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Paul Revere's Ride, which was enjoyable because it wove a story. While Paradise Lost is certainly an admirable goal, I think I'd rather take on something that didn't turn your tongue into a pretzel.
Laura,
ReplyDeleteTo the first indention; about 55 lines I think. It's actually four paragraphs, but on that website, it's only one.
Chris,
My thoughts exactly. I've been studying it for months now and I still don't understand it. Somehow it's a mix between the Bible and Greek mythology and that can make anything confusing. But the more I memorize and study it, the more I learn and the more I enjoy it. It really isn't quite as bad as it seems.
I understand the Bible, and I think I understand Greek mythology. I don't see how the two could possibly mix and make any sense at all!
