We also stopped by a family farm where they raise cows and make cheese from the milk the cows produce. This particular farm makes Single Gloucester and Double Gloucester cheese. This cheese is made using milk from Gloucester cows, which were an endangered species of cow but thanks to farmers like these, the cows are growing in population. The older woman in the picture below was quite the salesman, and we came away with about twenty pounds ($34) worth of cheese!

The Gloucester cows are unique in that they have a white stripe that goes down their backs and along their stomachs, making the tail white as well. These cows do not produce much milk, but according to Gloucester Cheese regulations, there has to be milk from the Gloucester cows in the cheese in order for it to be a true Gloucester cheese!
